If you give a girl a sewing machine, the first thing she will do is claim the dining table in her apartment as her work space. Meaning she will set up and put away all her gear each time she wants to sew.
Then, she will decided her first project will be to make a blanket tote for her neice.
Then, she will decide to REcover the chair that she originally sewed by hand because she did not have a sewing machine.
She will then see how boring her couches look and decided to make some throw pillows for them.
She will realize that her throw pillows no longer match her thrift store chair that she just recovered and will make new pillows for the couch.
She will then notice that the curtains are too short and add a stripe of fabric to make them longer. And, while she's at it, she will cover the storage bench and jazz it up with the other fabrics used in the room to "bring it all together".
She will then decide that the sunroom needs a new look and make new cushions and pillows.
To reward herself for all this work around the house, she will buy a new pair of jeans. But, because she is vertically challenged, she will have to figure out a way to hem them with her sewing machine.
Then, this girl and her husband will decide they want to have a baby. Which means, a whole new room to sew stuff for...curtains, blankets, and baskets OH MY!
While she is waiting for her little bundle of joy to arrive, she will make frequent stops to the fabric store just to look at all the pretty fabric.
After her new baby comes, she will take a long break from sewing, but then decide that her machine and all her gear will need a better work place.
This will inevitably lead to a great increase in her sewing. And result in more baby items.
All her success in making home decor and baby items will eventually lead to her trying to sew clothes. Her first attempt...a shirt for baby.
She will see how easy, fun and frugal it was to sew her very own clothes that she will want to try more.
As she begins to venture out to try more clothing, she will want to make them look professional, so she will need to make clothing tags.
In her quest for professional looking clothing, she will inevitably want a serger.

With all her new equipment, she will of course need to expand her sewing space and organization. (This is not my sewing room, but a girl can dream can't she?)
And, by the time her dream craft room is complete, she will need a new sewing machine.

You have sewed so much stuff I thought of 10 things not mentioned in this post! That sure was a winner gift giving you a sewing machine. My post would say: if you give a girl a sewing machine she will put it in the closet and think often about sewing something, but never actually do it!
Moral of the story is...if you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk. =). Cute! I want that craft room!!!! Ooo finish the upstairs room over the garage. Thatd make an awesome craft room!
I had no choice but to give the girl a sewing machine when I was so impressed that she covered an entire chair by sewing it by hand. You really have a natural talent for sewing and I am so glad you are enjoying it.
Precious Tiffany ! This makes me want to buy some fabric, "dust" off my sewing machine i.e. remove the clutter that has piled up around it and make something :)
